Welcome to SHMS!

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome to the 2014-15 school year!  We are proud of our dedicated, experienced staff and enthusiastic learners!  I am proud of our Generals and all they accomplished.

As demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work together to insure that our children reach their potential.  We believe that all of us - the school and the community - must work together in an extended family environment to insure success for all our students.  We believe it is everyone's responsibility to empower children with the creative, intellectual, and decision-making skills necessary for them to become academically, socially, physically, and emotionally successful and responsible.

With that in mind, you are invited to be an active participant at Spring Hill Middle and member of the PTSA.  We will also have an Open House on August 19th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. so you can meet your student’s teachers.  We have transitioned into a new Student Management System and each parent will be assigned a new login for Parent Portal. This year we will also host a parent coffee time every third Monday of the month. This will be a time to share with parents and stakeholders. The place will be in the school’s library and the time will be at 8:00 am. All parents are invited to come. The first coffee meeting will be August 18th .

We have sent home several forms that need your attention. Please read each and fill out the necessary information.   It is important we get this information back on Tuesday, August 5th.  There are also fees that are due to assure our students get the necessary supplies they need.  It is our desire to keep you informed of all that is taking place at school.  Up-to-date and additional information will be sent to you through emails, phone messages and will appear on our school web page.  If you have questions or concerns that arise at any time, please do not hesitate to call your child's teacher or me.

Again, I want to thank each of you for what you have done for our school and community. I believe even better things are ahead for our school and community.  I look forward to another great year.

Parent Portal News

In the process of transitioning to our new student data system, INOW, the parent contact information did not transfer. Therefore, we are entering this information manually and it has greatly delayed our launch date. We recognize the inconvenience to you as a parent in being able to view grades, etc. We’re getting close to finalizing the process and you’ll be hearing from us over the next few weeks regarding your login and password.

In the meantime, when you attend Parent/Teacher Conferences this week and next, please make sure your school has your updated contact information (e.g. email). As always, contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions regarding your child’s progress.

Thank you again for your patience as the district makes this transition.
